What it does

Photo Tidy(er) finds the photos your iPhone saved sideways or upside down, and fixes them in bulk. It reads the faces, people and text in each photo to work out which way is up, and weighs each photo against the ones taken around it. Swipe through the suggestions or check them in a grid, and one tap fixes them. It can also check new photos overnight while your iPhone charges.

It also stages photos for your next post. Pick the shots, and they get a heart, or go in a temporary album, until you've posted.

What it deliberately doesn't do

  • Guess. A photo with no faces, people or text to go by, like most scenery, is left alone. You can still fix it yourself from the share sheet.
  • Change anything without you. Nothing is fixed until you tap Fix, and less sure suggestions start unselected. Each fix is an ordinary edit, so Revert in Photos undoes it.
  • Unfavorite your favorites. Photos that were already favorites stay favorites when a batch is cleared.
  • Send anything anywhere. There's no account, no server and no tracking. Photos are checked on your iPhone and never leave it.
