Loman Age Verification

Ask visitors their age before they can shop, and block checkout until the check has been answered.

What it does

Loman Age Verification puts a question in front of your storefront — either a single I am [age] or older button or a date-of-birth field — and keeps the store unreadable until it has been answered. You choose which design, what it says, and what the minimum age is in each place you ship to.

The part that is unusual, and worth knowing before you set it up: the check is also enforced at checkout, on Shopify's own servers. A cart whose visitor never answered the gate cannot complete an order, even if the overlay was dismissed with browser tools or never ran at all. See Checkout enforcement.

What it does not do

It does not establish anyone's age. A visitor types a date or presses a button, and that answer is theirs — nobody's ID is checked and no document is read. What the app enforces is that the check ran and was answered passingly. If you need identity verified rather than asserted, this is not the tool for it.

Nothing here is legal advice, and installing it is not compliance. What a given jurisdiction requires of a store selling alcohol, vapes, cannabis, or adult product is a question for someone qualified to answer it. This app is a mechanism; whether that mechanism satisfies your obligations is your call to make.

There is also no email capture, no analytics dashboard, and no A/B testing — nobody joins a mailing list to prove their age. And there is no staff password: every other app in this suite hides the whole store and sells a way past it, but a gate takes five seconds to answer, and a documented way around an age check is a liability rather than a convenience.

Two plans

The Free plan is a working gate: both designs, the editor, your age rules, the allowlist, and checkout enforcement. Your gate carries a small "Powered by Loman Age Verification" line at the bottom. Standard, at $2.99 a month, removes that line and changes nothing else. See Plans and features.

Free is a real plan rather than a trial, deliberately: an age gate a merchant cannot switch on until they have paid is an age-restricted storefront served to everyone in the meantime.
