Frequently asked questions

Scans look through your library for sideways photos, and the share-sheet actions need it to find the photos you share in your library. Nothing leaves your iPhone. See Permissions.

No. Everything happens on your iPhone, and there's no server. See the privacy policy.

Open the photo in Photos, tap Edit, then Revert. The app's fixes are regular edits. See Fixing and undoing.

Photo Tidy(er) only suggests a fix when the photo shows which way is up: a face, a person standing, or readable text. Scenery with none of those is left alone rather than guessed at. Scans also skip photos you've already fixed or dismissed. You can still fix any photo from the share sheet in Photos: select it, tap Share, then Fix Rotation. Right marks the photo to fix, left dismisses a wrong suggestion for good, and down leaves it for later. Tap Fix N Photos to fix the ones you swiped right. Tap a photo to compare it with the original. See Reviewing suggestions.

The evidence points one way, but not strongly, or the fix goes against the rest of the session. They start unselected, so nothing changes unless you choose them. See Reviewing suggestions.

With Optimize iPhone Storage on, some photos are kept only in iCloud, and scans don't download them. Open them in Photos so they download, then scan again. See Scanning for sideways photos.

Turn on Check New Photos Overnight on the Rotate tab. While your iPhone charges, iOS gives Photo Tidy(er) time to check the day's new photos, and you'll get a notification in the morning if any need fixing. iOS decides exactly when, so some nights it may not run. See Overnight checks.

A way to gather the photos for your next post without cluttering Favorites for good. In Photos, select them, tap Share, then Photo Tidy(er). They're marked as favorites (or put in a temporary album) until you tap Posted, or until the batch expires and Photo Tidy(er) clears it. Photos that were already favorites stay favorites.
