On the Rotate tab, pick which photos to check, then tap Scan:
- Last 30 Days
- Date Range: choose From and To.
- Album: choose one of your albums.
- Entire Library: can take a few minutes. Keep Photo Tidy(er) open while it scans.
When it’s done, the review opens. See Reviewing suggestions.
What it looks for
Photo Tidy(er) works out which way is up from the faces, people and text in a photo. It also groups photos taken around the same time into sessions, and weighs each photo against the rest of its session.
It only suggests a fix when a photo shows which way is up. A photo with no faces, people or text, like most scenery, is left alone rather than guessed at. You can still fix one yourself with Fix Rotation.
It all happens on your iPhone.
What it skips
- Screenshots and videos.
- Photos you’ve already fixed or dismissed. To check them again, turn on Include photos you’ve reviewed.
- Photos that aren’t on your iPhone. Scans don’t download from iCloud, so with Optimize iPhone Storage on, a photo kept only in iCloud is skipped. Tap the review’s title to see how many were not on this device. To check them, open them in Photos so they download, then scan again.
Photo Tidy(er) remembers what it found in each photo, so later scans only look at photos that are new or changed.
Stopping and picking up again
A scan saves its progress as it goes, and your screen stays on while it runs. Meanwhile:
- Review Found So Far stops the scan and opens what it’s found. Scan again later to check the rest.
- Stop stops it. The next scan picks up where it left off.
