Stage for Post keeps the photos for your next post easy to find, without cluttering Favorites for good. Staging is always free.
Stage from Photos
- In Photos, select the photos, tap Share, then Photo Tidy(er) in the row of apps.
- On the Stage for Post screen, name the batch, or keep the suggested name, like Post · Sep 27.
- Choose Stage In and Clear After (see below).
- Tap Stage.
To add the photos to a batch you’ve already staged, pick it under Add To instead of New Batch.
This needs full access to your photos. See Permissions.
Or pick photos in the app
On the Staged tab, tap +, select photos, tap Next, choose the options, and tap Stage. In the picker, a heart marks photos that are already favorites, and a clock marks ones already staged.
Favorites or an album
Under Stage In:
- Favorites: staged photos get a heart. Existing favorites stay favorites.
- Album: staged photos go in a temporary album named after the batch. Your favorites aren’t touched.
Favorites is the default. To change the defaults for new batches, go to Settings → New Batches. Videos can be staged too.
When you’ve posted
On the Staged tab, tap Posted on the batch, or swipe it left. Or open the batch and tap Mark as Posted. Photo Tidy(er) clears it:
- Favorites: the hearts it added come off.
- Album: the photos come out of the album, and the album is deleted. iOS asks first. If you’ve added photos of your own to it, the album stays.
The batch moves to Recently Cleared, with a line on what changed, like 3 removed from Favorites · 1 was already a favorite.
When a batch expires
Clear After sets how long a batch lasts: 1 Day, 3 Days (the default), 1 Week or Until Cleared.
When a batch expires, you get a reminder, if notifications are on. Tap it to clear the batch, or press and hold it and tap Keep 1 More Day. Otherwise the batch is cleared the next time you open Photo Tidy(er). Reminders due overnight wait until 9 a.m.
To give a batch longer, open it and choose a new Clear After from the ⋯ menu. The new time counts from now.
Photos that were already favorites
Photo Tidy(er) notes which photos were already favorites when you staged them, and never takes those out of Favorites. In the batch they’re labeled Favorite.
It also leaves these alone when it clears a batch:
- A staged photo you unfavorite yourself. It’s labeled Unfavorited.
- A photo you choose to keep: open the batch, press and hold the photo, and tap Keep in Favorites. It’s labeled Keeping.
- A photo that’s also in another batch staged in Favorites. It keeps its heart until that batch clears too.
Changing a batch
Open it from the Staged tab. The ⋯ menu has Rename, Add Photos and Clear After. To take one photo out, press and hold it and tap Remove from Batch. Removing the last photo clears the batch.
