My maintenance page isn't showing

The checks that resolve this fastest, in order.

Visitors are still reaching your storefront. Work through these in order — it is almost always one of the first two.

1. Did you click Save in the theme editor?

Enabling the Maintenance app embed does not apply it. The theme editor’s Save button does.

  1. Online Store → Themes → Customize on your published theme.
  2. Click the App embeds icon (a jigsaw puzzle piece).
  3. Confirm Maintenance is toggled on.
  4. Click Save, even if it looks like it already is.

See Enabling the app embed.

2. Is Shopify’s own password protection on?

While it is, nobody reaches your storefront at all, so the app never runs.

Online Store → Preferences → Restrict store access — untick it and save. See Disabling Shopify’s password protection.

3. Is a template published, and the page switched on?

Check the app’s Home tab. It needs a published template and the visitor toggle ticked.

4. Did you publish a different theme?

App embeds belong to one theme. Publishing a new theme turns the page off until you enable the embed there and save.

5. Are you looking at a cached page?

Test in a private window or on mobile data. Your own browser may be holding a copy from before the app was set up.
