Before you uninstall
Uninstalling cancels your subscription and, after a short retention period, deletes your designs and settings.
It also does one thing that matters more here than it would for another app:
If you want to stop gating temporarily — a catalog change, a test, a day when the age-restricted range is off sale — untick Show the age gate to visitors on Home instead. That keeps your setup, keeps your subscription in whatever state it is in, and is one tick to reverse. See Turning the gate on and off.
Uninstall
- In your Shopify admin, go to Apps.
- Find Loman Age Verify and click the … menu.
- Click Delete or Uninstall and confirm.
Shopify cancels the subscription at that point. You are not charged again.
Afterwards
Removing the app removes its access to your store, and both halves stop with it:
- The app embed stops doing anything. The theme editor may still list it, but with the
app gone it renders nothing. There is no leftover code to strip out of
theme.liquidand no 404 to clean up. - The checkout rule goes too. Shopify stops running an uninstalled app’s validations, so carts that never answered a gate are no longer blocked. Existing orders keep the Age verified note they were completed with.
Your customers’ passes are simply forgotten — nothing on your side has to be cleaned up, because nothing about them was ever stored on ours.
Reinstalling later
Install the app again and your shop is recognized. Whether your previous designs, age rules, and allowlist are still there depends on how long it has been — data is retained for a period after uninstall and then deleted. If you are reinstalling within a few weeks, ask us before you rebuild anything.
One thing always needs redoing: the theme app embed, and the Show the age gate to visitors checkbox. A reinstall does not put the gate back in front of your store by itself. Work through Setting up your age gate again.
If your storefront is still gated after uninstalling
It should not be — removing the app stops it doing anything at all. If visitors still cannot reach your store, the cause is almost certainly Shopify’s own password page rather than this app:
Online Store → Preferences → Restrict store access — untick it and save.
