Filming a session

Start a session, hit balls, and watch each swing as it's kept. Pause, pick up again, and finish when you're done.

Start a session

  1. Set your iPhone up behind you, with the ball in view. See Setting up.
  2. On the home, tap New session, then Record.
  3. Tap Start session, and hit balls.

Each swing is kept as its own clip, and the time between swings is cut. Your latest swing plays on the screen while you keep hitting, so you can walk over and watch it.

To hear when a swing has been kept without looking at your iPhone, turn on Chime in headphones when kept in Settings.

Pause and finish

  • Pause stops filming without ending the session. Tap Resume to carry on.
  • Finish ends the session and takes you to your swings, to save them. See Saving and sharing.

Every session you finish is kept in your library, with the swings you kept.

If a session closes before it’s finished, the next time you open Kinograph it asks whether to pick up where you left off.

The recorder needs the camera and the microphone. If either is off, see Permissions.

Keeping and discarding swings

The strip of swings shows every swing kept so far. To drop one, hold it down and choose Discard.

Motion that looked like a swing but wasn’t kept, such as a practice swing, appears after your swings under Also caught. If one of them was a real swing, hold it down and choose Keep.

Frame rate and resolution

Settings has Frame rate and Resolution. A higher frame rate gives smoother slow motion. The ball tracer needs 60 fps or faster.

HD is free at every frame rate. Recording in 4K is part of Kinograph Golf Pro. If you chose 4K and don’t have Pro, Kinograph records in HD at the same frame rate, and Settings says so.

Changes take effect from your next session.
